GROOMS, SCOTT - 77, of Cosby passed away Tuesday night at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville following a lengthy illness. He was employed by Baxter Orchard for 28 years before his retirement in 1981. He was a veteran of WWII and of Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Blanche Shults Grooms; son, Donald Grooms; and his parents, Ples and Vertie Grooms. He is survived by his sons, Bobby Scott Grooms of Greeneville, and Harold Grooms of Knoxville; daughter, Delores Grooms of Cosby; daughter and son in law, Judy and Bobby Baxter of Cosby; sister and brother in law, Marie and Clyde Ward of Ft. Myers, Fla.; brothers and sisters in law, Gerald and Floy Grooms of Newport, Junior and Lillie Grooms of Sevierville; grandchildren, Holly Grooms, Kimberly Grooms and Donnie Bowling of Knoxville, Jamie Baxter and Stacey Baxter of Cosby; special friends, Lake Williams of Cosby, Boyd Shults of Cosby, Dr. Emmit Manley of Jefferson City, Sonny Ramsey of Bybee;Bobby Baxter of Cosby and Betty Davis of Knoxville. Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Chapel with Rev. Andy Ball and Rev. Gary Henderson. Interment will be at Fowler Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by DAV Chapter 102. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday evening at Brown Funeral Home.
