Donald Stokely, 53, of Newport, went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 14, 2002 at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville. He was employed by BASF and was a Methodist by faith. His father, Jehu Stokely, and infant sister preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Arlene (Holt) Stokely, of Newport; son, Donald Brian Stokely, of Newport; and daughter, Tracy Shoemaker and her husband, Bruce, of Newport; mother, Maybelle Woody, of Del Rio; sisters, Norma Jean Stokely, of Del Rio; Linda Stewart and her husband, Victor, of Morristown; and Etta Mae Phillips and her husband, Louie, of Whitesburg; brother, Bill Stokely and his wife, Traci, of Del Rio; and grandchildren, Jonathan and Peyton Shoemaker, of Newport. Mr. Stokely will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral service will be Tuesday afternoon, December 17, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Van Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Methodist Cemetery. The family received friends Monday evening, December 16, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Donald Stokely.
