Rosa Appie Green Campbell, age 101, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Palmetto General Hospital in Miami Springs, Florida. Rosa was a housewife and weaver. She belonged to the Southern Highland Craftsman’s Guild for many years and wove for shops in Gatlinburg as long as she was physically able.
Rosa was born in Sevier County, TN, but spent her later years in Miami Springs, FL and Lebanon, TN. She was a long time member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church and at death belonged to Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Lebanon, Tennessee.
She lived a full, productive Christian life. She fought a good fight; she kept the faith and finished her course. To God be the glory, good things she has done.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milas L. and Nancy Smelcer Green, her husband John Walter Campbell, grandson Jeffrey Campbell, and her granddaughter, Joan Campbell Landfield.
Rosa is survived by sons, Roy Campbell (Dot) of Miami Springs, FL and Max Campbell (Irene) of Lebanon, TN; Granddaughter Judy Campbell Karpis (Alex J.), Grandson Johnny Campbell (Gina) and four great grandchildren: Rebecca Landfield Koch (Rudy), Ryan Landfield, John and Alex M. Karpis, Jack Henry and Eva Campbell. She has two great-great grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth and Claudia Joan Koch and a “special” niece, Ruth Ramsey – as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2008 in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rolen-Breeden Cemetery, Sevierville. The family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. Sunday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville, TN. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
