Maples, age 77, of Sevierville, moved to her new mansion in Heaven on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at 1:25 PM. She was a member of Maples Branch Baptist Church, but dearly loved all of her Christian brothers and sisters in Christ at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Heaven Bound, where she was attended quite often. After having a massive stoke in April, when released from the hospital she was taken to her daughter, Peggy Cansler’s, home in Strawberry Plains where she and husband Buddy and son David Hugh Maples cared for her until God called her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Hobert Wilson Maples, Sr.; sons Earnest Luther, Herbert Winfred and Hobert Wilson Maples, Jr. Survivors: Daughters: Patsy Cooper; Peggy Cansler and husband Buddy; Bonnie Smith and husband Wayne; Brenda Hunter and E.F. Son: David Hugh Maples Adopted daughters: Kathy Bair and sons; Lori Mendenhall and husband Buddy; Pat Wilhoit; Carolyn Idell Grandson: Roger Steven Smith Granddaughters: Pamela Ward and husband Joe, Lisa Simcox and husband Todd Great-grandchildren: Jama, Tiny Wayne, Bo, and Kristen Simcox; Megan and Hannah Ward Friends too numerous to mention Funeral service 2 PM Sunday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Al Smith, Rev. Roy Ogle and Rev. Jamie Gibson officiating. Music provided by Randy Rayfield and Larry Ball. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Mendenhall, Johnny Rolen, Bill Ford, Junior Whaley, Barney Woody and Leroy Grayson. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
