Lona Jane Maples Bull, age 87 of Sevierville, sailed aboard the old ship of Zion Sunday, October 30, 2011 with her blessed Saviour at the helm. She was originally from Jake’s Creek in Elkmont, TN. She was a devout Christian who loved her Lord with all her heart. For many years she was a Sunday school “beginners” class teacher at Roaring Fork Baptist Church. After moving to Pigeon Forge, she was a choir leader and teacher at Conner Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Wesley “West” and Sally Armintha “Mintha” Ownby Maples; brothers, Ernest Ownby, Lewis and Carl Maples; sister and brother-in-law, Hugh and Ella Mae Metcalf.
Survivors include her daughter, Marylee Carver; son, Phillip Bull and wife Judy; precious grandsons, Chris Bull and wife Cassie, Greg Bull and wife Kristen; beloved great grandsons, Gage and Caden Bull; sister, Hettie Ball and her family; sister-in-law, Evelene Maples; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved caregivers, Linda Shrader and Dott and Carolyn Ball; and many beloved friends and extended family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and friends at Sevier County Health Care Center.
Funeral service 7 PM Tuesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Hatcher officiating. Eulogy by Jim Parton. Interment 1 PM Wednesday in Elkmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (atchleyfuneralhome.com)
