Funeral services for Gleen O. Everhart , 66, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Maplewood First Baptist Church under the direction of Robison Funeral Home. Ronnie Burke will officiate. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Tenn., with visitation at 9 a.m. in Smith Mortuary. Visitation will also be 7-9 p.m. today in Robison Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Everhart passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, in a local hospital.
Mr. Gleen Olden Everhart was born May 20, 1937, to George and Oda Jane Everhart in Seymour, Tenn. He was a career military serviceman. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 23 years. During his career, he served on the presidential staff at the Pentagon, and served two tours during the Vietnam and Korean wars. Mr. Everhart received several medals:the Army Accommodation with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal (seven times ), and upon retirement, the Distinguished Service Medal. He was married on Aug. 27, 1958, to Ms. Clelda Flynn in Rockford, Tenn. He taught accounting, auditing and taxes for 12 years at McNeese State University. He was a member of Rockford Masonic Lodge 468 F&AM. He was a member, deacon, Sunday school teacher and treasurer of Maplewood Baptist Church. He was a Sulphur resident for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Clelda Flynn Everhart of Sulphur; one son, Dr. Victor E. Everhart of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Johnny Conard Everhart of Maryville; and one sister, Helen Jennings of Maryville.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda Faye Everhart.
