April 15, 1926 - April 19, 2018
Earl Junior Ogle (Pap), age 92 of Happy Hollow, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 19, 2018. He was born April 15, 1926 in the Fighting Creek community of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
Pap was a faithful Deacon for many years at Friendship Baptist Church and in later years he enjoyed worshipping at Covemont Baptist Church. He worked for many years and retired from the City of Alcoa. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Alice Faye; his parents Early and Gertie Ogle; brothers Carl, Herman and Wayne; sisters Zina and Lona; granddaughter Lesa Ladd; great-grandson C.J. Simmons.
Pap is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Edna Mae Dixon Ogle; children Clell (Zella) Ogle, Freda (Earl) Pope, Dale (Kathy) Ogle, and Jenny (Ronald) Rolen; grandchildren Janice (Jeff) McGill, Bonnie (Ronnie) Myers, Angie (Stanley) Ogle, Rachel (Rob) Marsee, Rhonda (Travis) Axley, Libby (Phillip) Burden, Debbie McClure, Eddie Fox, Tim (Tina) Fox, Michael Ogle, Tara (Cletus) Grissom, Ronald Rolen, Jr. and Melissa (Randy) Heck. He is also survived by twenty-one great-grandchildren, twenty-one great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members and friends. Mr. Ogle was also awaiting arrival of a great-grandson, due in May.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bruce and Robin of UT Hospice, his home caregiver Patricia Webb and to the staff of Sevierville Health and Rehabilitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. The casket flower spray contains 74 red roses in honor of his and Edna’s 74 years together.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville with Rev. Danny Sutton officiating. Interment will be 2 PM Tuesday in Mattox Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
