February 5, 1923 - July 19, 2013
Sutton, Wilma Christine Ogle – age 90, went to be with the Lord, whom she has known since she was 9 years old, on July 19, 2013. Wilma was born on February 5, 1923, right after her twin sister Velma Imogene, to E.E. and Lillian Mary Jane Brown Ogle of Knoxville and Wears Valley, TN. Wilma was married to Charles Sutton when he returned from his tour of duty as a SeaBee in WWII in a double ceremony at Sevier Heights Baptist Church, where they were charter members, with her twin sister Velma and husband Fred Winkle on July 18, 1946. Wilma and Charlie enjoyed over 61 years of marriage before his death in 2007. Wilma worked in the legal profession before securing a position at TVA where she worked for over 30 years before her retirement in 1988. Wilma gave her life and heart willingly to care for her beloved twin sister Velma until her passing in 1980. She diligently and lovingly cared for her parents for many years until their passing. The light of her life and what kept her going all of these years was her great niece Lindsay Christine (namesake) Winkle who stole her heart and brought back her joy on February 14, 1988. Wilma and Charlie spent many, many wonderful times with Lindsay, memories that will be forever present. Wilma is survived by her baby brother Roy Michael Ogle and wife Katy, 2 nephews and 1 niece, Philip Alan Winkle and wife Lisa, Mike Ogle and wife Karen and Peggy Lynn Ogle Elrod and husband David. She is also survived by 2 great nieces, 1 great nephew, 2 great-great nieces and 4 great-great nephews. She is also survived by many wonderful lifelong friends, with a special remembrance of her dear friend Betty Van Meter, who sent her over 200 cards of encouragement as well as countless gifts and visits. We would especially like to thank Wilma's sweet Jetta, who cared for her as if she were her own, as well as her special friend Kristy and extra special nurse Samantha, as well as all the other wonderful people that were always ready to help in any way they could. Family and friends will meet Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 1pm in Woodlawn Cemetery for the graveside service. Condolences may be offered online at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
