Frances (Fran) Maples Hodges, 81 of East Ridge, Tenn., died on Sunday, October 20, 2013. She was born in Gatlinburg, TN to the late Russell and Pearl Taylor Maples. Fran had lived in Chattanooga since her marriage in 1953 and was a charter member of East Ridge Presbyterian Church, where she was Past-President of Women of the Church. She was an assistant buyer for the Cheerio Shop at Memorial Hospital as well as volunteering and serving in various capacities for over 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph O. Hodges.
Survivors include her daughters, Holly Mavity and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Frank) Laskowski, both of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustin) Morgan, Taylor Laskowski, Ryan Laskowski, Ben (Jordan) Mavity and Morgan Mavity; great-granddaughter, Braelyn Mavity; brothers, Paul Maples, Fort Loudon, TN and Lynn Maples, Kodak, TN; sister, Alice Cameron, Knoxville, TN; several nieces and nephews; numerous special and close friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 23, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, Chattanooga, with Rev. J.R. Caines and her nephew, Rev. Russ Maples officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
