(July 4, 1937 - November 14, 2014) Charlotte Morton, age 77, of Newport went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 4:10 pm. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. A faithful servant to our Lord, she will be remembered as a woman that let Christ shine through. Mrs. Charlotte, as the children at Cosby Elementary School called her, served as a foster grandparent for many years before sickness forced her to stop. Her interests included family, recipes, gardening, sewing and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members. She was loved by so many and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Edna Butler; brothers, Andy Butler and Johnny Butler; and sister, Geraldine Ball. She is survived by her son David (Kim) Morton; daughter Charleen Pratt; sisters, Jane (Homer) Cook, Evelyn Pendergrass and Beth Peterson; granddaughter Ashley Morton; grandson Patrick James; and close nephew Marc Butler as well as many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Jenkins Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm Sunday prior to funeral service.
