King, Ivan – age 88 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 at NHC of Knoxville. Ivan was of the Baptist faith, born and raised in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Ivan worked at Southern Extract Company in Knoxville for many years. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Robertson King; daughters, Carolyn Horner and Janet VanDyke; grandchildren, Robert Horner, David Horner, Jeffrey Horner, Jennifer and David Petersen, Alexander Hauk, Stephanie and Tony Kreps and Amanda VanDyke; and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves a half-brother, Sam Patterson and wife Stella of Pigeon Forge. Ivan’s pride and joy were his grandchildren; they were all so special to him. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 18 from 6-7 p.m. at Highland South Funeral Home, with services to follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Highland South Cemetery, Rev. Jimbo Duncan officiating.
