BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. – Swinfield Walter Conner, 97 of Swannanoa passed away Monday, February 10, 2014.
Mr. Conner was born November 3, 1916 in Graham County, NC and was a resident of Buncombe County for 71 years. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Swannanoa and retired from Beacon Mfg. Co. with over 40 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Morgan Conner.
Swinfield is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Hazel Robertson Conner, formerly of Pigeon Forge, TN; daughters, Patricia Conner Martin (Henry) of Fairview, NC and Linda Conner Powell (Bobby) of Sanford, NC; son, Robert Conner (Becky) of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Eloise Conner Nelson of Barnesville, GA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and special nephew, John McCarter.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, February 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Swannanoa.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain, NC.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider: First Baptist Church, Swannanoa, 501 Park St., Swannanoa, NC 28778 or a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Asheville Health Care and Four Seasons Hospice for their loving care.
