TRENTHAM, MERRITT - age 72 of Maryville passed away Monday, September 23, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Wears Valley for 46 years. An avid gardener and hiker, worked for the National Park Service as a young man, knew all the trails, loved fishing and hunting. Retired for Burress Company in 1995 with 36 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Stewart and Ellen Trentham brothers, Johnny, Conly Trentham, sister, Margie Trentham step-son, Jeff Best. Survivors: wife of 20 years, Wilma "Carolyn"(Burchfireld-Best) Trentham sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Robbie (Fox) Trentham of Maryville, Rodger Trentham of Maryville step daughter and husband, Susan Kay(Best) and Ronnie Dunlap of Friendsville sisters and brother-in-law, Jean and Rex Teaster of Wears Valley, Ida Mae Catlett of Seymour brothers, Avery Trentham of Wears Valley, Charles Trentham of Rockford several nieces, nephews and cousins special aunts, Lois Trentham and Pauline (Trentham)Mills of Madisonville special caring nurses, Nancy Myers and Lois (Robbins) Mimek special friends, Dr. O.L. Simpson, Dr. William Moore, Kim White, Rev. John Estes, Ralph Benson, Ronnie Millsaps, Bill Holder, Harold Simerly, "Preacher" Floyd Headrick, and Shirley Teaster. Funeral Service 8:00pm Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Miller Funeral Home Rev. Wayne Trentham, Rev. Bill Roberts, and Rev. Michael Roach officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Headricks Chapel Cemetery in Wears Valley, Rev. John Estes, Rev. Larry Teaster, and Rev. Milburn White to officiate at the graveside. Family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
