Hubert Franklin, of Pigeon Forge, went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
He was retired from the United States Army with 23 years of service, 9 in which he was stationed in Germany. He was an instructor at the Armor School at Fort Knox, and an instructor of Tank Gunnery at West Point. In the aftermath of World War II, he served as a member of the Elite Constabulary Unit of the U.S. Military whose missions included maintaining Border Patrol between the German and Russian controlled German border. He was a member of the Sevierville Church of God, D.A. V. and American Legion Post 202 in Gatlinburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Payne and Pearl Ownby Franklin, grandparents, Mary L. and Matt Ownby, Lawson Franklin and Belle Franklin, sister, Louise Franklin Harrell,. Brothers, Lloyd Franklin and Arthur Franklin.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends 5-6:45 PM Thursday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM at the Sevierville Church of God with Pastor Jim Cook, Pastor James McFalls, and Pastor Melvin Lonas officiating.
