Melissa Imogene Reagan Smelcer- age 86, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at around Noon at Sevier County Health Care in Sevierville, Tennessee. Born in Sevier County on December 9, 1924 to Clifford and Neva Reagan, she was a housewife and rarely worked outside of the home. On December 9, 1942, she married William Murel Smelcer and they had two children, Kay Doran Smelcer Bryson, and Dennis Kent Smelcer. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Judge Ray Reagan (Louise), and Ralph Reagan (Kate) and sister, Frances Hobbs, son Dennis and grandson, Clay Hunter Bryson. Survived by daughter, Kay Doran Bryson (Perry), sisters, Charlotte Reed (Marion) Jefferson City, Marilyn Davenport (Bill) Sevierville, and brothers Frank Reagan (Mary) Knoxville, Carroll Reagan (Marion) Seymour, Richard Reagan (Darlene) Seymour, and Don Reagan (Carolyn) Seymour. Also, grandson Clint Bryson (Tracy) Elkridge, Maryland, and great grandchildren Brittany and Abby Bryson and Caleb and Loryn McMillan; sisters-in-law Ruth Johnson (Blackie) Seymour, Zelma Breeden (Glen) Seymour, Pauline Smelcer (Roy-Pee Wee) Sevierville and brother-in-law Raymond Smelcer Powell, and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, she was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church on John Sevier Hwy. and worked in the Beginner Department at Valley Grove Baptist Church for years, many years ago. The family would like to thank Trinity Hills Assisted Living and Sevier County Health Care for all the care and assistance she received while she was a resident at each facility. At her request, there will be a graveside service only, with W.A. Galyon officiating at Highland South Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite ministry in her name.
