Hugh Layman Wilson born January 2, 1932 to Hattie (Layman) and Samuel Scott Wilson in the Holder’s Grove Community on Cosby died at Newport Medical Center November 19, 2014. He was a member of Caton’s Grove Methodist Church, a lifelong member of Large’s Chapel, and attended Shults Grove. He loved the Lord, reading scriptures, leading singing and all church activities. He enjoyed daily walks, the Braves baseball, and listening to the Cosby Eagles and Cocke County High Schools ball games. He is preceded in death by his mother Hattie Layman Wilson; father, Samuel Scott Wilson; sisters, Emma Dean Carver and Helen Wilson; and brother-in-law Carl Jay Carver, Sr. He is survived by nieces and nephews Bettye and Carl Jay Carver, Jr., Cosby; Janie and Mike Moore, Cosby; Helen and Jimmy Owen, Cartage; Melissa and Lynn Sandlin, Greensboro, NC; and several great and great- great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Friday November 21, 2014 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends from 11 to 1 prior to the funeral services.
