She was a member of Liberty Church of Cosby, retired school teacher for over 33 years, having taught at Liberty, Bluffton, Cosby and Smoky Mountain School. She was a member of Cocke County Farm Bureau Women since 1982. Emma Dean enjoyed quilting for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Carver; parents, Sam and Hattie Wilson; and sister, Helen Wilson. She is survived by her son Carl Jay Caver, Jr. and his wife Bettye of Cosby; daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Mike Moore of Cosby, Helen and Jimmy Owen of Carthage, TN, Melissa and Lynn Sandlin of Greensborough, NC; brother, Hugh L. Wilson of Cosby; sister-in-law, Uvela Carver Baxter of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Carl Jay “Jayson” Carver and wife Danna; Tamara Carver Collins and husband Rick, Manney Moore and wife Liz , Carter Moore and wife Renee, Candice, Casey and Caroline Owen, Sarah and Katie Sandlin; great grandchildren, Addy and Dacey Jay Carver, Kale and Ava Lee Carver Krawczyk, Maggey and Manney Moore, and Katey Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews and other special family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, February 18, 2011 at Liberty Church of Cosby, with Pastor John Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Waters-Large Cemetery.
