Gerald was Catholic and shared his faith with his family. He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1962. Gerald was a retired Police Chief of South Lyon, MI. While living in Tennessee, he worked as an auctioneer and was a retired employee of Dollywood. Gerald enjoyed playing golf and poker with friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lorraine Smith; and brother, Donald Smith. Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Virginia E. Smith; daughters, Lori Wanke and husband, Brian, Cari Pilon and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Adam, Ryan, Heidi, Rachael, Samantha, and Fred; and sister, Judi Beal and husband, John.
