He was an Army Veteran of WWII and owner and operator of Townsend's Garage for over 30 years. He was a member of the West Town Mall Walker Club for 25 years. Preceded in death by: first wife, Carrie Lee Townsend; daughter, Wimpy Grubb. Survived by: wife of 35 years, Anna Lucille (Snooks) Townsend; daughter and son-in- law, Evelyn and Ben Goode; son-in-law, Jim Grubb; stepdaughter and husband, Brenda and Melvin York; stepson and wife, Calvin and Janice Baldwin; grandchildren, Debbie Shepherd, Rocky Goode, Mike Goode, Kim Crane, Tim Grubb, and Jimmy Grubb; step-grandchildren, Robbie York, and Kevin Baldwin; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Gerald Wallace. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Friday at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for an 11 am graveside service. Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
