As a graduate from Sevier County High School, he continued his education at the University of Chattanooga on an athletic scholarship. He then taught and coached at Middlesboro High School in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Whaley, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors: Father: Carl Whaley Brother and sister-in-law: Willis C. Whaley and wife Jean Sister and brother-in-law: Nancy Loveday and husband Garry Nieces and Nephews: Philip Dean Whaley, Marty Riggins and husband Randy, Chad Loveday and wife Jessica, Larry Costner and wife Sherry, Claudia K. Costner-Crain and husband Paul Crain, and great nieces and nephews In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Pigeon Forge Building Fund, P.O.
