Hayes Whaley- age 76 of Knoxville,
Passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. He is remembered as a Southern Gospel singer, master bricklayer, avid rabbit hunter, and outdoorsman.
Hayes is survived by wife Vera Ruth Pruett Whaley, daughter Jennie Parton- Knoxville, sons James P. Whaley- Knoxville and Mark H. Whaley (Karen)- Clinton. Grandchildren- Justin Tate, Samantha C. Ginn-Whaley, Bo Pebley (Amber), Jessica Hackworth (Jeff), Ariel Talmage (Cameron) and 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by father and mother- Rev. Julius H. Whaley and Geneva Whaley, 2 brothers- Junior and Willard, and 3 sisters- Alice, Arminda, and Sue.
Family and friends will meet at 3pm Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Blount Baptist Church in South Knoxville, 321 Higgins Street, for a celebration of Hayes’ life. Rev. Byron Chambers officiating and Gospel music by choir and congregation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, COPD research, or to Blount Baptist Church. Brown Funeral Home Newport, Tennessee is honored to serve the Whaley family.
