March 12, 1926 - November 16, 2014 Resided in Pigeon Forge, TN Mildred Lee Whaley Gibson, age 88 of Pigeon Forge, TN, went to her eternal home in Heaven, Sunday, November 16, 2014. She was beloved by all who knew her. Mildred was a lifelong member of New Era Baptist Church. She attended faithfully until her health began to decline. She retired from Cherokee Textile Mill after 32 years of service and enjoyed working puzzles with her family. The two most precious things in her life were her Lord and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; Millard H. (Bat) Gibson, parents; Pinkney H. and Julia Whaley, brothers; Charlie and Vernon Whaley, sisters; Sylvia King, Lillard King, Hazel Carr, and Grace Pierce. Left to mourn Mildred's passing is her only daughter; Debra Gibson Blalock and husband Kenny, grandsons; Brian Trentham and wife Kristie, and Cory McNabb and wife Sara, step-grandchildren; Amanda Rawlings and husband Scott, and Tim Blalock, step great-grandchildren; Grace and Noah Raper, Lakin and Keegan Rayfield, Micah, Molly, and Hunter Douglas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Atchley Funeral Home to benefit the family. Funeral service 6 PM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville with Rev. Dwayne White officiating. Interment 11 AM Thursday at Pigeon Forge Baptist Cemetery.
