Betty Ruth Lawson Hatcher, age 80, of Wears Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2012. She was surrounded by her loved ones when the Lord took her home.
She was of Baptist faith and was a member of Valley View Baptist Church, Wears Valley. Betty worked for many years at the Medical Center in Gatlinburg, for Dr. Schilling and Dr. Tanner. In later years she became a dental assistant and worked for Dr. Granville Shields until his retirement and then for Dr. William Pope.
Waiting in heaven to greet her were her parents, Walter Huce and Mary Tine Lawson; brothers-in-law, Delmar Cooper and Tex Cogdill and a host of other family and friends.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Arthur Hatcher, Sr; three children and their spouses, Kathy and Dale Ogle, Arthur, Jr. and Sheila Hatcher, Lesa and Jeffrey Krieger; six grandchildren, Michael Ogle, Tara Ogle, Lauren Hatcher, Morgan Hatcher, Sandra Krieger and J.J. Krieger; sisters and brother-in-law, Alice Cooper, Mary Cogdill, Patsy and Lawrence Rogers; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lucille Hatcher, Agnes Hatcher, Charlotte and Ben Clabo, and a host of special nieces and nephews; extended family, Ken, Angie and Benjamin Scruggs.
Special thanks to our church family of Valley View Baptist, Country Candy Kitchen and The Music Outlet, the UT Home Health Staff and UT Hospice- we came to love you as family. Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone that called, visited, sent cards and food, and for all prayers that were prayed on her behalf.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley View Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Mrs. Pansy Clabo, 3639 Valley View Road, Sevierville, TN 37862.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM at Valley View Baptist Church with Dr. Preston Joslin and Curtis Clabo officiating.
