John Lefford Dockery, 93, of Dandridge, passed away Sunday in Jefferson City following a lengthy illness.
He was a member and deacon of the Blowing Cave Baptist Church.
John worked for the Tennessee Division of Forestry for 17 years until his retirement in 1973.
He was a farmer, where he enjoyed keeping bees and providing honey to the community. John did surveying in the area as a licensed surveyor.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Flora (Ivy) Dockery; parents, George and Malissa (McCoig) Dockery; and sons, Mitchell and Marshall Dockery.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Ebbie Julie Dockery of Dandridge and Wesley and Lena Dockery of Pigeon Forge; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie and Levi Tarwater of Sevierville and Alma and Roosevelt Batson of Dandridge; sister, Jessie Thomas of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Williams and Rev. Beecher Huskey officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burchfield Memorial Cemetery.
