Loope, Hollis Roger –age 74, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Loope was the son of James Ewin and Lillie Maude Arnwine Loope and was born in Grainger County, Tennessee, on November 15, 1930. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1992 after 31 years of service. A 1950 graduate of Young High School, Mr. Loope was also a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a heavy tank operator with the 7th Army in Germany. He attended Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church in Dandridge, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James C. Fielden Loope; sisters, Ollie Loope Hopson, Mabel Ann Loope, Christine Loope and Lucille Loope. Survivors Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lois Styles Loope; son, David Roger Loope; daughter-in-law, Charlene Hodges Loope; grandson, Alexander Christian Loope, all of Chesapeake, Virginia; brothers, C. Orville Loope and Jack Loope of Knoxville, Bob Loope of Cleveland, Tennessee; sisters, Rosella Loope Nicely and Gladys Loope Hopson of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Imogene Grant Loope and Mary Ruth Styles McGhee of Dandridge; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; close friends, James and Ann Smith of Knoxville. Service The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, February 23, at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Funeral service will be held 1 PM on Thursday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will meet at Hills Union United Methodist Church in Dandridge, Tennessee on Thursday for 3 PM interment services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 2200 Sutherland Avenue, Suite H-102, Portland Building, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919.
