BETTIS, FRANCIS LYLE - age 81, of Maryvile, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 22, 2001. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company after 33 years, a member of trinity Presbyterian Church, and a US Army World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank E. and Lona Morgan Bettis; brother, Luke Bettis; and sons, Don and Kim. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hillis Blackburn Bettis; daughter and son in law, Joyce and Charles Jones; grandchildren, Joey and Tanya Smith, Lyle and Cameron Jones, Jerry and Becky Poff, Jason and Tanya Smith, Lyle and Cameron Jones, Jerry and Becky Poff, Jason and Nicole Jones; 11 great grandchildren. He had a great interest in photography and genealogy. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Chapel. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at Clark's Grove Cemetery.
