Local dies after tractor accident
Family: Man may have had heart attack before incident

SEVIERVILLE - A local man died Tuesday after an accident that happened while he was working on his farm off North Panther Creek Road.
Mayford E. Blalock, 70, was operating a tractor at his home when the vehicle overturned and rolled down a steep embankment, pinning him underneath, according to family members and authorities.
Family members said emergency responders told them that based on his injuries, it appeared Blalock may have suffered a massive heart attack or stroke before the accident.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said they could not make judgments as to the cause of death.
Blalock died doing the thing he loved to do the most on the same farm where he was born and raised, they said.
"He was a farmer," said Judy Blalock, his daughter-in-law. "That's what he loved."
A road sign for North Panther Creek Road had been knocked down, and Blalock's neighbors said that emergency responders had to stop for directions to find their way to the scene.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said they did have some difficulty finding the scene. According to the central dispatching system, the inital call about the incident was issued at 11:13 a.m. and emergency responders arrived at 11:29 a.m.
Judy Blalock said the family was satisfied with the response time.
