MOORE, FRED D. — age 85 of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2004. He was a member of the Sand Branch United Methodist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII and a Scout Leader of Troop ##539 for 23 years where he acquired several awards, medals and most importantly the Silver Beaver Badge. He was retired from Robert Shaw After 42 1/2 years.
He was survived by his loving and caring wife of 57 years, Libby; his grandson Tommy Oakley and wife Becky and their son Sam; his sister Minnie Moore and several nieces and nephews. Also a very special friend, Michelle Edmonds.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm til 8 pm on Friday, March 19, 2004 at the Sand Branch United Methodist Church with the service to follow at 8 pm. Pastor Kim Isley will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday at the Lynnhurst Cemetery. Family only will meet at the Funeral Home at 10 am to go in procession to the graveside. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Sand Branch UMC or the St. Jude’s Hospital in memory of Mac C. Howe. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of NHC at St. Mary’s for their love and support. McCarty Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
