Jimmy Eugene “Gene” Latham, age 72 of Seymour, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012. He was an employee of Kern’s Bakery for 28 years and was the owner and operator of Latham Trucking. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ott and Mamie Baker Latham.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nellie Mikels Latham; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert McCarter; son, Jimmy Eugene Latham, Jr.; granddaughter, Chelsea McCarter and boyfriend Cory Lowe; brothers, Bobby Jack Latham and Wilma, and Gary Lee Latham; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Amedisys Hospice.
Funeral service 5 PM Saturday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. W.A. Galyon and Rev. Freddie Gibson officiating. Interment 2 PM Sunday in Knob Creek Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert McCarter, Bobby Lyn Latham, Cory Lowe, Roy Mikels, Bob Latham, and Darryl Mikels. Honorary pallbearer is Elmer Rogers.
