Mr. Creed Samuel Payne , age 79 , of Newport , passed away Sunday afternoon , May 31 , 2015 , at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center . Mr. Payne was a member of True Gospel Free Will Baptist Church. He was retired from Stokley's Van Camp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethyl Payne ; parents, Joe and Rhoda Payne ; brothers, Fred Payne and Alfred Payne ; and sisters, Nora Gillespie, Cora Askew and Hazel Sane. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Luke and Georgia Payne ; sister and brother-in-law, Lura and Wade Williams; special nephew, Johnny Payne ; and step sons, Homer Bradley and Darryl Shults. Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 , in the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Frazier officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 p.m. Thursday morning, June 4, 2015 . at the Payne Family Cemetery for the 1 p.m. interment. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
