May 7, 1941 - March 5, 2018 Alvin Richard McGill, Sr., 76, of Sevierville, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018. He was born on May 7, 1941 in Sevier County. Alvin was a member of Valley View Baptist Church. He held several positions throughout his career while working for Royal Care Nursing Home, Kroger, and the Sevier County Bus System. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Arwood McGill; sons, Rodney Dalvin McGill and Randy Alvin McGill; parents, Thomas Andy and Nellie McGill; sisters, Carrie Anne Hamm and Mary Alice Crick; and his sister-in-law, Betty McGill. He is survived by his son: Alvin R. McGill, Jr. and his wife, Michele of Sevierville, TN; daughters: Sheila Bailey of Rutherfordton, NC, and Sherrie Cook and fiancé, Ronald Patterson of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Anthony Bailey and wife, Kristan of Cliffside, NC, Amanda Norton and husband, Nathan of Cliffside, NC, Ted “T.C.” Cook, Jr. of Polkville, NC, Brian McGill of Boiling Springs, NC, Katie McGill, Alex McGill, and Aric McGill, all of Sevierville; several great-grandchildren, Landen and Lily Norton, Keeleigh, Kennedy, and Kolton Bailey, all of NC, Kellin McGill of Sevierville, TN; brothers: Andy Thomas McGill, and William “Bill” McGill and wife, Pat; sister: Wanda Belcher and husband, David; and many very special, loving, caring nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank each and every staff member at Smoky Mountain Hospice for all their kind and gentle care, especially Trish, Brittney, and Scarlett. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, March 8, 2018 with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Rev. Ken McClanahan, Rev.
