John "Johnny" W. Allen, 83, of Cosby, went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 27, 2006, at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. Mr. Allen was of the Baptist faith; a member of Stokely’s Chapel Church, served in WWII and retired from Stokely Van Camp after 19 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rhoda Allen; infant son, Arville Elvis Allen; foster son, Jerry Lee Waters Sr.; two sisters and two brothers. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Minnie Louise Breeden Allen, of Cosby; daughter and son- in- law, Ella Faye and Virgil Manos, of Cosby; Billy R. and daughter-in- law Tabatha Allen, of Newport; one son, Larry Allen; and one sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Ed Kyker, of Newport. He will also be sadly missed by 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of friends and co-workers that he grew to admire and love, several nieces and nephews and special friends, Paul Parton, Kathy Durham, of Newport; Mike and Pattie McFarland, of Newport; Jean and Ella Mae Manos, of Newport; and Louianna Ellis, of Newport. The family will receive friends at 556 8th Street, Newport on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Hilltop Baptist Church with Rev. Cline Franklin, Rev. Junior Loveday, and Rev. Sunshine Williams officiating. Mr. Allen will lie in state from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to his service. Interment will follow at Stokely’s Chapel Cemetery with the DAV Post #102 providing military honors. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. John W. Allen. Special saying of Johnny’s was, "Just stay five more minutes".
