Allen, 85, of Newport, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 12, 2004, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was a custodian with the Michigan School System before his retirement. He also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Corcoran) Allen; parents, George Washington and Rhoda (Griffin) Allen; sisters, Gladys Allen and Juanita Brooks; and brother, George Washington Allen Jr. Earl is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo Savard, of Newport; sister, Ella Kyker, and her husband, Edward, of Newport; brother, John Allen and his wife, Louise, of Morristown; grandchildren, Loweda and Michael Wild, of Newport, and Kelley Robert Lunceford, of Newport; great-grandchildren, Steven Wild and Eric Williams; and special nephew, Ricky Williams, of Newport. Mr. Allen will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends. Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Craig Ward officiating. Military service will be conducted by L/Cpl Charles C. Roberts DAV Chapter 102 of Newport. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, December 14, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Earl G. Allen.
