Bates Abbott, age 66 of Morristown, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 28, 2008 as a result of heart failure. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a Sergeant in the 101st Airborne.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Pauline Abbott, brothers James Edward, J.D., Clyde, Skip, and Art Abbott, and sister Nina Hatcher.
Survivors include his:
Sons: Ty Abbott, Victor Abbott and wife Angela, Kevin Smith
Daughters: Wendy Adkins, Cindy Hollifield and husband Scott, Stephanie Blackburn

Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Elder Clyde Abbott, Jr. officiating. Family and friends will meet 2 PM Thursday in Abbott Cemetery for interment with military honors provided by American Legion Post #104.
