Wendell Dean Atchley, age 86, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the family home. Wendell was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jackie Marrs Atchley; son, Jon Atchley; parents George and Theodoshie Kerly Atchley; sisters, Rella and Grace Atchley; brothers, Herman, Lloyd, Mayford, Hubert, and Shirley H. Atchley.
He is survived by son Tom D. Atchley; daughter, Wendy Atchley French and husband, Bobby; granddaughter, Lynsey Atchley, and daughter-in-law, Amy Atchley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Wendell served 4 years in the United States Navy with a tour of duty in Korea. He graduated from Maryville College and the University of TN at Memphis College of Pharmacy. For decades he was the owner/registered pharmacist of Broadway Pharmacy on Old Knoxville Highway. A life-long Baptist, Wendell was a member of First Baptist Church Maryville.
His family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to physician and long-time friend, Dr. John Ingram, the nurses and administration at Morningview Transitional Care Center, Blount Memorial Hospice and special friend/neighbors Jerry and Debbie.
The family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service and interment with Rev. SM Johnson Atchley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
