Imogene Atchley Whitaker, 81, of Maryville, passed away April 17, 2012. She was a long-standing member of Victory Baptist Church, and gave 44 years of service to Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Maude Suttles Atchley. She is survived by her children, David and Lynda Whitaker of Greenback, Pam and Dale Gibson of Maryville; grandchildren, Staci Blair Hamlin, Traci Blair Breeden and Jennifer Whitaker Newman; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Billie Jo Guffey and Dorothy McNeily; brother, Ed Atchley. The family wishes to express a special thanks to all the employees at Kindred Health Care for all the special care. The family and friends will meet at noon Friday, April 20, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville, to proceed to Magnolia Cemetery for a 1 p.m. graveside funeral service, with Rev. Ben Ward officiating. Friends may call at their convenience from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.
