HENDERSON , LENNIE RUTH - age 79, of Powell, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at St. Mary's Holston Rehab and Health Center, after a courageous 8 year battle with cancer. Member of Bookwalter United Methodist Church, where she was very active and attended all services as long as her health permitted. She was a member of Bookwalter Keenagers and enjoyed years of traveling with them. She was also a member of the church choir. She retired from Sears after 25 years of service and continued working in retail for several years after. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Burl Henderson of Powell son, Rudy Henderson of Knoxville brother and sister-in-law, L.C. and Mary Pollard sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Charles Baker nieces and spouses, Janice and Bill Reed of Arkansas, Karen and Mike Bayless of Powell great nephew, Brian Cole. Family and friends will meet 12:15 p.m. Friday at Beech Springs Cemetery for a 12:30 p.m. graveside service and interment. Thanks are extended to the nurses, staff and many friends at Holston Rehab for the love and kindness shown to Mrs. Henderson during her 8 months of residence there. Memorial contributions may be made to Bookwalter United Methodist Church, 4218 Central Ave. Pike, Knoxville, TN 37912. Arrangements by Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Ave. at Broadway.
