Arlie H. Graves HILDEBRAN Arlie H. Graves, 82, of Hildebran, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born Dec. 16, 1928, in Sevier County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Arlie Yuel Graves and Dora Rogers Graves. A veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War, Mr. Graves owned and operated Ja-Mar Mills and was the founder of the Burke County Bloodhound Search Team. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Carl Graves. He is survived by his wife, Jama Cate Graves of the home; son, Steve Graves and wife, Pamela, of Hickory; grandsons, Joshua Ian Graves of Wilmington and James Preston Graves of Hickory; granddaughter, Wendy Denise Craig and husband, Scott, of Rutherford College; brother, Reese Graves and wife, Pat, of Seymour, Tenn.; special friend, Kay Heavner Griffin of Hildebran; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
