Suella Southerland Hux, 97, of Cramerton, NC, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Carillon Assisted Living in Cramerton. She was a native of Cocke County, TN, and the daughter of the late James Southerland and Bertie Freshour Southerland. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. Mrs. Hux retired from the textile industry and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed by her family. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law William and Patricia Hux of Gastonia; daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Larry Hunsucker of Gastonia; grandchildren and spouses Wesley and Tonya Hunsucker, David and Julie Hux, Nikki and Dale Toomey, Mark and Allison Hux, and Benjy and Lauren Hunsucker. Additional survivors include eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Ida Cashen and Juanita Hux, both of Newport, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Morison Hux, five brothers, and three sisters. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family of Mrs. Hux would like to express their gratitude to Gaston Hospice and to Carillon Living Center for their special attention given to Mrs. Hux while she was in their care.
