Burnice I. King, age 83, of Knoxville, passed away at 1:05 PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at home surrounded by family after a long-term illness. He was a World War II Veteran and he spent the remainder of his working career as a brick and stone mason. He was a long time member of Walden’s Creek United Methodist Church.
Burnice was loved and cherished by many friends. His loving and generous spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Yvonne King; parents Wesley and Myrtle King; sisters Phyllis King and Maude Effler; and brother Harry King.
He is survived by his:

Sons: Dale King, Wayne King and wife Benese
Grandchildren: Teri and Wayne Hunter, John and Andrea King
Great-grandchildren: Taryn, Drake, and Gianna (born 6/22/2005) King
Sister: Evelyn Ward
Brother: Thomas Hugh King and wife Dottie
Sisters-in-law: Ann King, Jean Mason
Brother and sister-in-law: Curtis Leon King and Barbara

We would like to thank a very special nephew Randy Effler for his love and kindness.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of the UT Hospice for their compassion and kindness, and we would also like to thank caretaker Ophelia Flatford.
Funeral service 7 PM Saturday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. David Smith and Rev. Barbara Lay officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2 PM Sunday at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens for interment. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
