April 10, 1937 - February 2, 2013
Resided in Gatlinburg, TN
Melvin H. King, age 75 of Gatlinburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the city of foundations whose architect and builder is God.
Born on April 10, 1937 in Huskey Grove and lived most of his life in Gatlinburg. He and his business partners established Quality Construction Co. and during 30 years built 24 motels, 6 restaurants, five of the original banks, 8 buildings at Dollywood and the original Christmas Place. He served as Chairman of Building and Codes Committee for the City of Gatlinburg for 12 years. He was very involved with his church, First United Methodist of Pigeon Forge, serving as adult Sunday school teacher, lay leader, chairman of the building committee, delegate at large to Junaluska, a Gideon, and a mission trip to Haiti.
His favorite pastime was fishing, and golfing with friends at Gatlinburg Country Club. He was a man of God who loved his family dearly, especially the 12 grandchildren.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. Isiah 40:31
