Thornton, 72, of Parrottsville, died Thursday, June 3, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was a retired employee of Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church and a member of the East Tennessee Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. She was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Hazel Williamson; sister, Joyce McGaha; and brothers, Robert Williamson Jr. and Conard Williamson. Survivors: husband, C. Baxter Thornton of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Emma Lee Balch of Parrottsville; stepson, Bartley Thornton of Newport; stepdaughter, Bonnie Thornton of Newport; sisters, Frances Cooper, Barbara Heatherly and Carolyn Snapp of Newport; brothers, Jack Williamson and Donnie L. Williamson of Newport; granddaughter, Julie Balch of Parrottsville; stepgrandchildren, Amy Click, Scott Thornton and Brandi Burgess, all of Newport; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 4, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m., at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Claude Villemaire ofÞciating. Entombment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
