Marjorie W. Thornton, 72, of Parrottsville, died Thursday, June 3, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital.
She was a retired employee of Morristown-Hamblen Hospital.
She was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church and a member of the East Tennessee Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc.
She was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Hazel Williamson; sister, Joyce McGaha; and brothers, Robert Williamson Jr. and Conard Williamson.
Survivors: husband, C. Baxter Thornton of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Emma Lee Balch of Parrottsville; stepson, Bartley Thornton of Newport; stepdaughter, Bonnie Thornton of Newport; sisters, Frances Cooper, Barbara Heatherly and Carolyn Snapp of Newport; brothers, Jack Williamson and Donnie L. Williamson of Newport; granddaughter, Julie Balch of Parrottsville; stepgrandchildren, Amy Click, Scott Thornton and Brandi Burgess, all of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 4, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m., at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Claude Villemaire ofÞciating. Entombment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of þowers, memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church or the East Tennessee Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., 5612 Kingston Pike, Suite 5, Knoxville, TN 37919-6301.
Costner-Maloy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
