Tallent, Jack Martin, age 79 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2006 at Baptist Hospital following a lengthy illness. Jack was a veteran of the United States Navy and a charter member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. After discharge from the Navy, Jack and partners founded Tennessee Florist Supply, Inc., which has locations in Knoxville, Bristol, and Roanoke, VA, and also was a partner in Tennessee Wholesale Florist, Chattanooga. Jack enjoyed his family, his work, giving a helping hand, playing golf, organizing golf outings with friends, and University of Tennessee sports. Preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Tallent and father, Hurdle Tallent; sisters, Bobbie Neubert and Betty Forbus.
Survivors
Survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mildred R. Tallent; sons and daughter-in-laws, Jack M. (Marty) Tallent II and wife Charlotte and Mike A. Tallent and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Patrick, Jennifer and Darren Tallent, Ryan Rowe and wife Melissa, Justin Rowe and Spencer Tallent; great grandchildren, Matthew and Jackson Rowe and Alexandra Tallent; nephews, Frank Neubert and wife Beverly, David Neubert and wife Elaine and daughters, Laura and Suzanne, Larry Neubert, Larry LaRue and wife Sherry; neice, Debbie White and husband Jeff. During his last year, Jack was given speical care by Debbie, Tanya, Tracy, Melissa, Michelle, and staff of Baptist Hospital and Ft. Sanders Select Care Hospital. “Remember the good times we had together. Shed no tears for me, I’ve gone to play 18 with some friends.”
Service
The family will receive friends at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 6, 2006 with funeral services to follow at 8:00PM, with Rev. Harry Rehegen, Robert Lynn Irwin, and Bruce Marston officiating. Interment service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, July 7 at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
