He was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Carrell; parents, Edward and Clara Melissa Baxter Carrell; brothers, James Clyde (Peanut) Carrell and Clifford Carrell; and a sister, Uila Carrell. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl E. and Marie Carrell of Alcoa and Hollis (Frosty) and Jean Carrell of Newport; sisters-in-law, Jean Allen, Mildred Carrell and Anna Roe Carrell of Newport; special friend, Michelle Shipley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening in the West Chapel of Manes Funeral Home with the Rev. M.L. White and Rev. Steven Smith officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Union Cemetery. D.A.V. graveside services will be performed by L/CPL Charles Roberts Chapter 102. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
