George was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II and retired from Y-12 Union Carbide as a clerk after approximately 30 years of service. He was born March 5, 1919 in Andersonville to the late Thomas Alexander and Luda Wood Sharp; sister, Lily Hutson; brother, Claude, Charles, and Earl Sharp. He is survived by: his loving wife of 67 years, Lucy Hutston Sharp of Andersonville; son, Donald Sharp & wife Kathy of Clinton; daughters, Brenda Ridenour & husband Larry of Andersonville, Deanna Higgins & husband Richard of Ft. Worth, TX; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Johnnie Braden of Clinton, Mary Shubert & husband Gene of Plant City, FL, Anna Lou Welton & husband Fran of Erin, TN; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. Steve Lakin officiating. His burial will be 10:00 am, Wednesday at Andersonville Cemetery with full military honors at graveside. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
