Lucile Hayes age 87 of Newport passed away Sunday February 1, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John F. and Amanda Teague. Preceded in death by her husband Rev. George W. Hayes, daughter Alice Faye Hayes, son-in-law Ronnie M. Wright Sr., grandson Rodney D. Wright, great-granddaughter Heather Wright, five sisters and six brothers. Lucile was a very devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She became a Christian at an early age and her life was spent serving her Savior and she was a member of Way Of The Cross Baptist Church, she enjoyed sewing for herself, family and friends and reading.
Survivors include her children Shirley I. (Rev. Ray) Swann of Newport, TN., Nancy L. (Walter) Bown of Millville N.J., Roy L. (Helen) Hayes of Newport, TN., and Joyce I. Wright of Griffin, GA., thirteen grandchildren, twenty seven great-children, and nine great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many special friends. The family sends a special thanks to the staff of the Jefferson County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Way Of The Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Swann officiating, interment will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.
