CHUCKEY-Rev. William Horace Teague, age 82, of Chuckey, Tennessee, formerly of Newport, passed away Tuesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital after a few months of declining health.
Rev. Teague has served in the Free Will Baptist denomination for 53 years. His pastorates have taken him to East and Middle Tennessee, as well as Hazel Park, Michigan. Hew as ordained by the Union Association of Free Will Baptist in August of 1947.
He was the son to the late John and Amanda Teague and was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Watts Teague, in January 1998; also, by an infant daughter and brothers, Frank, Robert, Mack, Howard, and Paul; and two sisters, Sarah Morrow and Anna Mae Rice.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Harold R. Teague and wife, Norma, of Longview, Texas, and Jim M. Teague and wife, Evelyn, of Chuckey; four grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Amy Teague, of Longview, Texas, David and Shannon Teague, Nashville, Tennessee, Stephen and Heather Teague, of Barnhart, Missouri, and Stephanie and Chester Husk, of San Angelo, Texas. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Alga Watts, Mrs. George Hayes, both of Newport, and Mrs. Marybelle George, of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Rev. Teague was well known in the area because of his local pastorates, and is known as a loving and concerned minister. His work also involved him in youth camps, vacation bible schools and revivals in the area and in other states.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Kiser Funeral Home in Greeneville, Tennessee. Then the body will be taken to Manes Funeral Home in Newport on Thursday, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Union Cemetery, Newport, Tennessee.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Bible Plan of Gideon’s International or Free Will Baptist Bible College.
