He was preceded in death by his wife Gardie Thomas, daughter, Judy Thomas; parents, Emory and Katherine Thomas; sister Annette Gardner; stepson, Herman Carver; stepdaughter, Wanda Phillips; grandsons, Ricky Carver and Charlie Carver. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Howard Whitlock of Cosby, Linda and Grady James of Newport, Kathy and Danny Greene of Cosby; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Marsha Thomas of Cosby; son, Richard Thomas of Cosby; brother Homer Thomas of Ohio; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other special family and friends. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Large officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Friday, May6, 2011 in Phillips Cemetery, Ground Hog Road, Cosby. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
