U.S. Veteran Paul Edward Lee, age 74 of Newport, born March 31, 1934, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ann; step father, Charlie Garner; and father J. B. Lee. He is survived by his wife, Doris Eslinger Lee; his only son, Paul K. Lee; daughter in law, Rebecca; grandsons: Kris, Nick, and Noah; sister, Zula Gorrell ; step-brother Carl Garner of Athens,TN; sisters in law, June Menard and Shirley Eslinger; niece, Paula Ann Douglas; and nephew, Edward Gorrell. Paul was an active member of the Newport community, retiring from the office of Register of Deeds after serving 24 years. He was a member of Newport Masonic Lodge #234, where he had served as Treasurer for many years, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of Kerbela Shrine. In addition, he was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and a veteran of the U S Army having served during the Korean War, he was also a member of the local VFW . Special thanks to his friends at Manes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday May 9, 2008 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately following, a Masonic Service will be held and a funeral with Dr.Craig Ward officiating.
Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 10, 2008 in Union Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Building Fund , 234 Lincoln Avenue, Newport, TN 37821.
