Zula Juanita Gorrell, age 81, of Newport went to be with her Lord, Sunday, December 25, 2011, at her home. She was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Zula loved her church and her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Gorrell; parents, Jesse and Martha Lee; brothers, J. B. Lee, Jr. and Paul Edward Lee and wife Doris; sister, Imogene Lee, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack Gorrell, Bud Freeman, Bernice Gorrell and Frances Lane. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Edward and Robin Lynn Gorrell of Newport; daughter, Paula Douglas and Mike Douglas of Newport; grand children, Travis (Wendy) Gorrell, Renee Douglas and Blake Evans, Aaron Douglas and Lindsey Loyd and Matt Banner; great grandchildren, Kylie and Kolby Gorrell, Karley Haynes and Ethan Evans, Ayden Douglas, McKenzie and Hayden Banner; step brother, Carl Garner and wife Joann of Athens, TN; brothers-in-law, Carl Gorrell, Gene Gorrell and George Lane; sisters-in-law, Leeanna Spisak and husband Andy, Westland, MI, Vera Freeman, Aiken, S. C. and Marie Gorrell of Newport; several, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Craig Ward and Rev. Gene Gorrell officiating. Entombment will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
